The Auston Woods Welcome Center will be closed on Monday, September 5, 2011 in observance of Labor Day. We hope that everyone has a safe and happy extended weekend.

Children of all ages come out for a community movie night. We will be viewing “Rio” (2011 - Rated G), the story of a blue macaw, Blu, who is taken to Rio de Janeiro to save his species. With the aid of a colorful group of friends, Blu sets out on an adventure to escape from an evil Cockatoo, Nigel, and his fumbling, bird-smuggling owner.

The viewing will be at 7pm on Friday, September 23rd at the Resident Activity Center. All children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Popcorn and sugar-free Kool-Aid® will be provided while supplies last.

Okay hear they come… You’ve just got off of work and you realized that you have an appointment at your apartment. Your friends called your phone to let you know that they coming over and they are on the way now. Time is running short!

Think fast but stay calm. Here is a really quick guide for cleaning your apartment so you won’t be caught off guard at the last minute by special guests.

First thing is to make a list of the key locations that need to be hit. In this case, you can skip the bedroom and more private area’s just close the doors. It is good to map out a plan,this will keep you focused and on course.

Figure out how much time you have. How much attention to you need to spend in one area. Hit the most important area’s first, like the living room or the main area that you intend to host in.

Keep the appearance appearing clean. Clean off the surface, spot clean and stack any papers so that things look neat and organized. This is when it is okay to toss clothes in the closet and under the bed. You want things to seem to be cleaner than they actually are.

The main three rooms of any apartment are the kitchen, living room and bathroom. Go over the toilet and counters with just a towel and maybe a little spray. You don’t have to pull out the heavy duty cleaning gear.

The final run through. Now that the bathroom is tidy and the counters and main spaces are in order, fluff up the sofa pillows and give the floor a brisk vacuum. Set the mood with some good music and nice lighting. Good job! With time to spare you’ve just cleaned (or so it seems) your apartment really really quickly.
